Beko Washing Machine Error Code E2 (E02): No Water Coming In, or Water Not Heating

Reviewed 2026-10-25 ยท Based on 5 manufacturer & service sources

What the code means

Beko's user manual for the BMM5DFO5741W washer-dryer lists E02 as No inlet water and tells you to check whether the water tap is open and the household supply is on, whether the mesh filter in the water inlet hose and the water inlet valve are blocked, and whether the inlet hose is frozen; if the code stays after that, contact the service centre. The same manual's troubleshooting table adds the everyday reasons a Beko won't take in water: the supply to the house is off, a delay-end time is set, Start/Pause hasn't been pressed, or there's already enough water in the drum. Beko doesn't publish one error list for all its washers, and its codes differ between platforms. On older Beko washing machines (the WTK range is the one most often named), the UK spares supplier eSpares and the repair site How-To-Repair both say E2/E02 means the water isn't heating, normally because the heating element has gone open circuit; How-To-Repair notes that LED-only models show the same fault as a light pattern rather than digits.

Likely causes

Safe DIY checks

โš  Before you start

Unplug the appliance (or switch off its breaker) and shut off the water supply valves before removing panels or disconnecting hoses. Keep towels handy for residual water.

  1. Look up the error table in your Beko manual (the model number is on the label inside the door rim) to see whether your E02 is listed as no inlet water. If your manual has no code table, use what the machine was doing: E2 while trying to fill points to water supply, E2 partway through a hot wash with a full drum points to heating.
  2. For a fill fault, make sure the tap behind the machine is fully open and that other taps in the house have water.
  3. Pull the machine out carefully and straighten any kinks in the inlet hose. If it runs through a cold garage or outbuilding, check it isn't frozen.
  4. Turn the tap off, unscrew the inlet hose at the tap and clean the mesh filter in the hose end with a soft brush. Then unscrew the hose from the back of the machine, pull the mesh filter out of the inlet valve with pliers, rinse it and push it back in. Refit the hose hand-tight (no tools), open the tap and check for leaks.
  5. Check your water pressure the way Beko suggests: run the nearest cold tap into a jug; you need at least one litre in about seven seconds. If it's slower, a plumber needs to look at the supply, not the washer.
  6. Make sure a delay-end time isn't set and that you pressed Start/Pause, then run a short programme and watch whether water flows into the detergent drawer.
  7. If the drum fills fine and E2 appears during a hot wash instead, the heating element is the usual suspect. Testing or replacing it means unplugging the machine and taking the back panel off, so only do it if you're comfortable; otherwise book a repair.

๐Ÿ›  When to call a pro

  • E02 stays after the tap, hose and both filters are checked and the pressure is good: Beko's manual says to contact the service centre, as the inlet valve or its wiring may have failed.
  • The code points to heating and you don't want to open the machine: an engineer can test the element, its wiring and the temperature sensor in one visit.
  • The machine is under Beko's guarantee: use Beko's own repair service rather than opening it, so you don't affect cover.
  • You smell burning, the plug or socket is hot, or the house trips its electrics when the machine heats: unplug it and leave it for an engineer.

Parts that commonly fix it

Always match the part number to your exact model.

โš™

Washing machine inlet hose

A cheap fix if the old hose is kinked, split or the filter in the end is damaged. Beko asks you to use a new hose set rather than reusing an old one.

Washing machine water inlet valve

Replaced when water still won't come in with a good supply and clean filters. Order by your exact model number.

โš™

Washing machine heating element

For the older-model heating version of E2. Order by model number; the temperature sensor usually plugs into the element and moves across.

Digital multimeter

Used to check the heating element for an open circuit, with the machine unplugged.
