Miele Washer F10: Water Inlet Blocked or Restricted (Meaning and Fixes)

Reviewed 2026-10-26 ยท Based on 4 manufacturer & service sources

What the code means

Miele's support pages in the US, Canada and the UK describe Fault F10 as "The water inlet is blocked or restricted" and list four things to check: the faucet isn't open, the inlet filter is soiled, the inlet hose is kinked, or the water pressure in the supply line is too low. Miele's technical information for its W1113, W1119, W1203, W1213 and W1215 Touchtronic washers calls it Fault Code F10, Water Intake: the Check inlet LED flashes, the inlet valve is closed, the program ends on its own and the drain pump runs for 120 seconds. The same manual adds a fourth cause for technicians, a defective water intake valve. F10 is a water-supply fault, not the drain fault F11, which is covered on its own page.

Likely causes

Safe DIY checks

โš  Before you start

Turn off the faucet before you unscrew the inlet hose, and expect a little water to come out. Hand-tighten the hose and check it for drips before you leave the machine running. Don't open the cabinet to test or replace the inlet valve yourself; it's connected to mains voltage.

  1. Cancel the wash program, turn the faucet fully on, then select the program and start it again. Miele lists this as the first check.
  2. If F10 comes back, turn off the faucet and unscrew the water inlet hose from the faucet. Have a towel ready for a little water.
  3. Remove the rubber seal from the recess in the hose connection, then hold the free end of the hose upside down so the plastic filter falls out.
  4. Rinse the filter clean of grit and limescale, then put it back in place. Miele says the filter must be refitted after cleaning, so don't run the machine without it.
  5. Refit the rubber seal and screw the hose back onto the faucet. Turn the faucet on and check the connection is watertight; if it drips, tighten it.
  6. Follow the inlet hose to the back of the machine and remove any kinks or loops. Miele says to keep an eye on those spots afterward, since the plastic can weaken and tear; a damaged hose must be replaced.
  7. Check your water flow: with the faucet fully open, at least 5 liters (about 1.25 gallons) should come out within 15 seconds. You can time this into a bucket at the same supply. If it's slower, Miele says to contact the facility manager or a plumber.
  8. Start a program again. If F10 still appears, contact Miele Service.

๐Ÿ›  When to call a pro

  • F10 keeps coming back after the faucet, filter, hose and water flow all check out: Miele says to contact Miele Service. The service manual's remaining cause is a defective water intake valve, which a technician checks and replaces.
  • Your water pressure is too low and can't be raised: Miele says to contact Miele Service. Its service manual notes that a technician can set a low water pressure option in the machine's programming mode on those models.
  • The inlet hose is split, bulging or leaking: Miele says it must be replaced and to contact Miele Service.
  • The faucet is seized or won't open fully: that's a plumber's job, not the washer's.
  • The machine is under warranty or extended cover: use Miele Service first.
