Samsung Microwave C-F2 (-tE-) Error Code: Touch Key Communication Problem

Reviewed 2026-10-25 ยท Based on 5 manufacturer & service sources

What the code means

Samsung UK's microwave information-code table lists "C-F2 / -tE- / -TE-" with the description "Abnormal communication occurs on the touch key" and the action "Press Stop to try again." The Samsung MS22M8054 user manual groups C-F2 with C-d0 as "The touch key is malfunction" and says to clean the keys and check for water on the surface around them, and if it happens again, to turn the microwave off for over 30 seconds and try setting it again, then call Samsung Customer Care if it still appears. Samsung uses the same code on its ovens, where its Philippines support page describes C-F2 more precisely as a communication problem between the touch IC (the chip that reads the keys) and the main or sub control board (micom), and recommends restarting and, if it continues, cutting power for 30 seconds or more. In other words, the keypad itself may be fine; the board just isn't getting a clean signal from it. A Samsung microwave service manual (ME21K7010DS series), as summarized by MyPros+, starts the technician check for C-F2 at the touch film and its harness connection. C-F2 is different from SE / C-d0, which means a key has been held down for more than 10 seconds (see our Samsung microwave SE page), although both often trace back to moisture or a worn panel.

Likely causes

Safe DIY checks

โš  Before you start

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before opening panels.

  1. Press Stop (Stop/Cancel) and try your setting again. Samsung lists this as the fix for C-F2, and a one-time glitch often clears this way.
  2. If the code comes back, clean the key panel with a soft cloth that is only slightly damp, then dry it. Don't spray cleaner directly on the panel.
  3. Check for water or condensation around the keys. If steam or a spill may have reached the panel, leave the microwave unplugged until it's completely dry. When cooking on the range below an over-the-range model, run the hood fan.
  4. Unplug the microwave, or turn it off at the circuit breaker, for at least 30 seconds, then restore power and try again.
  5. Don't open the cabinet to reseat the keypad ribbon cable yourself. Microwaves contain a high-voltage capacitor that can hold a dangerous charge even when unplugged.

๐Ÿ›  When to call a pro

  • C-F2 keeps returning after cleaning, drying and a 30-second power reset: Samsung says to contact its Customer Care or service center.
  • A technician will typically check the touch film (keypad) and its harness connection to the control board first, then replace the touch panel or control board if needed.
  • Keys that respond only sometimes, or a panel that looks cracked, bubbled or water-damaged, point to a keypad that needs replacing.

Parts that commonly fix it
