Beko Dishwasher E01 Error Code: Overflow or Leak Warning (Meaning, Causes, Fixes)

What the code means

Beko's US user manuals (for example DIT38532 and DIN25401) describe E:01 as the Overflowing warning: "If the machine intakes too much water or there is leakage at any of the components then the machine will detect this and E:01 icon will flash." While the overflow continues, a safety routine stays active and tries to pump the water out. Once the overflow stops and the machine decides it's safe, E:01 goes out by itself. If it doesn't, the manual calls it a permanent fault and says to contact the authorised service. Beko Australia's help centre says the same warning appears as a P1 icon (the E01 error) on its models. Beko Slovakia's help page adds that water in the base can also come from a blocked drain or drain hose, including a blanking plug left in place when a new dishwasher was installed, and that in this protective mode only the drain pump runs and no program will start until the water is removed from the base. Don't mix it up with E:02, which Beko uses for the opposite problem: no water coming in because the supply is cut or the tap is off.

Likely causes

Safe DIY checks

โš  Before you start

Unplug the appliance (or switch off its breaker) and shut off the water supply valves before removing panels or disconnecting hoses. Keep towels handy for residual water.

  1. Let the dishwasher finish pumping out. Beko's manual says the safety routine keeps trying to drain while the overflow continues, and E:01 clears on its own if it stops.
  2. Clean the filters in the bottom of the tub and check the drain hose for kinks or blockages, along with the drain point at the end of the hose and the trap under the sink, as Beko Australia's help centre advises.
  3. If the dishwasher was just installed, check that no blanking plug was left in the drain spigot or hose connection.
  4. Switch the dishwasher off at the wall, pull it out of the cavity, and tilt it backwards no more than 45 degrees so water can drain out of the base (have towels ready). Put it back, switch on and check whether it works normally. Beko Slovakia describes laying it on its left side for the same reason.
  5. Look around the door seal, the inlet and drain hose connections and underneath the machine for drips, and don't overdose detergent, since excess suds in the tub can spill over.
  6. If E:01 still won't clear, Beko says there's a permanent fault, so contact Beko's authorised service.

๐Ÿ›  When to call a pro

  • E:01 stays on after the base is drained and the filters and drain are clear, which Beko calls a permanent fault.
  • Water keeps collecting in the base, which points to a leaking hose, pump, seal or other internal component that needs to be found and replaced.
  • The machine overfills, so the inlet valve or water level control needs checking.
  • The dishwasher is under warranty; use a Beko authorised service provider.
