Bosch Dishwasher E07: CrystalDry (Zeolite) Drying Fan Fault (Meaning, Causes, Fixes)
What the code means
Some Bosch dishwashers (sold in the US as CrystalDry models) dry dishes with a chamber of Zeolite minerals and a small fan that moves air through it. Bosch USA's dishwasher error-code list describes E07 as "The Zeolite (Crystal Dry) fan motor is defective." Bosch's service fault-code table (PM II, document 5600 0000171699) lists E:07 as "operates without auxiliary drying system," with the fan defective or blocked, or the module on the fan defective, and tells the technician to check the components and connecting wires and measure the winding. The same table notes the code only applies to appliances with the Zeolite drying system. In practice the wash itself still works; the giveaway is dishes, and especially plastics, staying wet at the end. Don't confuse it with E10, which is the Zeolite chamber heater, or E09, which is the main water heater in the heat pump.
Likely causes
- Zeolite (CrystalDry) fan motor has failed (Bosch USA error-code list)
- Fan blocked, so it can't spin (Bosch service fault-code table)
- Defective electronics module on the fan (Bosch service fault-code table)
- Damaged or loose wires or connectors between the fan and the control (the service table says to check connection wires)
- Only possible on models with the Zeolite drying system; on other models the code points to a different issue, so check your manual
Safe DIY checks
Unplug the appliance (or switch off its breaker) and shut off the water supply valves before removing panels or disconnecting hoses. Keep towels handy for residual water.
- Do the reset Bosch USA recommends: switch off the dishwasher's breaker for 30 seconds, then turn it back on and run a program.
- If the code doesn't come back, keep an eye on drying. You can still use the dishwasher, since Bosch's service table says it simply runs without the auxiliary drying system.
- If E07 returns, call Bosch Customer Support at 1-800-944-2904 (US). Have the E-Nr (model) and FD (production) numbers from the rating plate on the edge of the door ready.
- Don't open the drying system or the base yourself. The fan sits inside the appliance and checking it means working on live wiring and measuring motor windings.
🛠 When to call a pro
- E07 comes back after a 30-second breaker reset.
- A technician checks the fan and its wires and measures the winding, per Bosch's service fault-code table; the fan or its module is replaced if it's bad.
- Getting at the Zeolite drying fan usually means pulling the dishwasher out of the cabinet.
- You also see E10 (Zeolite chamber heater) or other heater codes at the same time.
- The dishwasher is still under warranty; Bosch recommends its own service for this code.
Parts that commonly fix it
Always match the part number to your exact model.
Bosch Zeolite / CrystalDry drying fan (exact part for your model)
Only after a technician confirms the fan or its module has failed; match it to your E-Nr.
Search eBay →Dishwasher rinse aid
Helps dishes dry while the drying system is out; it won't fix the fan.
