Electrolux Oven F01 Error Code (F001 / F1): Touch Panel Failure (Meaning, Causes, Fixes)

What the code means

Electrolux's service data sheet for electric ranges with modular oven controls (p/n A00980601, packed with models like the EI30EF45QS) lists F001, F002, F004 and F005 together as "Touch panel failure" and says: disconnect power, wait 30 seconds and reapply power; if the fault returns on power-up, replace the touch panel. Electrolux's newer sheets for the same control family (for example p/n 808532647 and 809216912) show the same code as F01 and, on some models, call for replacing the control assembly (the oven user interface board and touch panel together) instead of the panel alone. The touch panel is the glass keypad; it talks to the oven user interface board over a short harness (connectors I2C1 or I2C2). F01 is not a heating, sensor or door-lock fault on these ovens. Don't confuse it with F011 (F11), which is a key held down for 30 seconds or more, or F023 (F23), which is a communication failure between the user interface board and the glass touch panel. On European Electrolux ovens with pyrolytic cleaning, Electrolux's own support article says F1 means the door cannot close because the pyrolytic function is on; on European ovens without pyrolytic cleaning, it says F1 is an electronic fault that needs an authorized service center.

Likely causes

Safe DIY checks

⚠ Before you start

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before opening panels.

  1. Reset the power. Unplug the range or turn its circuit breaker off for 30 seconds, then restore power. Electrolux's owner guide notes that flipping the breaker resets everything on that circuit.
  2. Watch the display when power comes back. If F01 doesn't return, the oven can be used normally; note the date in case it comes back.
  3. Wipe the glass control panel dry and make sure nothing is resting on it (water, a towel, utensils). That's the fix Electrolux gives for the stuck-key code F011, so it's a sensible check if your display may be showing F011 rather than F01.
  4. If F01 shows up again as soon as power is restored, stop resetting it. The fix on Electrolux's service sheets is a replacement part, so contact Electrolux or an appliance technician with your model and serial number.
  5. European pyrolytic oven showing F1: check that the top part of the door is intact and secured to the door, and that the door was reassembled correctly if you recently removed it for cleaning (see your user manual). If that doesn't clear it, Electrolux says to contact an authorized service center.

🛠 When to call a pro

  • F01 returns immediately after a 30-second power reset. Electrolux's service data sheets call for replacing the touch panel, or the control assembly (user interface board and touch panel) on models whose sheet says so.
  • The technician should check the service data sheet inside your range (usually in a bag behind the kick panel or on the back of the control) to see which part your model calls for, and match the part to your model number and parts catalog, as Electrolux's sheets require.
  • If the display also shows F023/F23 or F017/F17, the problem may be the harness between the user interface board and the touch panel (connectors I2C1 or I2C2). Electrolux's sheet says to test that harness before replacing parts.
  • Any burning smell, scorched wiring or a control that stays blank after the reset. Leave the breaker off until it's inspected.

Touch panel

The glass keypad Electrolux's modular-control service sheet says to replace when F001/F01 returns after a power reset. Match it to your model number.
