Samsung Dishwasher 7C (7E) Error Code: WaterWall Reflector Can't Move (Meaning, Causes, Fixes)

Reviewed 2026-10-23 · Based on 4 manufacturer & service sources

What the code means

Samsung's US support guide says the WaterWall reflector error (7E or 7C) happens when the WaterWall reflector is unable to move, meaning something is blocking or holding it in place, or it wasn't reattached correctly. Samsung's main US error code list describes 7E as the reflector not being able to move correctly, and Samsung Canada lists the same code as a WaterWall reflector movement issue. Samsung UK describes what you'll notice with 7C: the dishwasher briefly tries to move the bar, then stops, so there's no spray action and cleaning is extremely poor. On WaterWall models Samsung also notes that a blocked reflector can show up as the leak code LC or LE, so check the reflector if you see that code too. The code only applies to Samsung dishwashers with the WaterWall wash system.

Safe DIY checks

⚠ Before you start

Unplug the appliance (or switch off its breaker) and shut off the water supply valves before removing panels or disconnecting hoses. Keep towels handy for residual water.

  1. Pull out the bottom rack so you can see the WaterWall rail and reflector along the bottom of the tub.
  2. Look for anything blocking the reflector's travel, especially pot handles, large knives or ladles sticking down through the rack, and move or remove them.
  3. If the dishwasher is new, check the top of the guide rail for packing tape and remove it.
  4. Check the reflector's position. Samsung says the WaterWall logo should face forward and upward when it's installed correctly.
  5. If it's on backwards, lift up on the vane to remove it, turn it around and reseat it on the gray shuttle on the WaterWall rail.
  6. Power cycle the dishwasher: switch it off at the circuit breaker for two minutes, then turn it back on. Samsung says the dishwasher can't otherwise be reset, and a power cycle may be needed to clear the code even after the problem is fixed.
  7. If the code returns, repeat the checks once more before calling for service.

🛠 When to call a pro

  • The reflector is clear, installed with the logo facing forward and up, and the dishwasher has been power cycled, but 7C or 7E keeps coming back. Samsung says to request service at that point.
  • The reflector, vane, shuttle or rail is visibly broken or damaged.
  • The bar tries to move and stops even with nothing in the dishwasher, leaving dishes unwashed.
  • Keep in mind that Samsung warns a service visit may not be covered under warranty if the technician doesn't find a defect, so do the blockage and position checks first.
