What the code means

Samsung US and Samsung Canada call PC a "Zone Wash error": the Zone Wash function is not operating correctly. On those support pages PE is the related "Half load function error." Samsung UK, Australia and the Gulf group PC and PE together as a dividing valve check, displayed when the dividing valve is defective, and the Gulf page explains that this component controls water distribution within the dishwasher. Zone Wash and Half Load both work by steering water to only part of the dishwasher, so a valve that can't switch position stops those options. Samsung UK describes the symptom as a dishwasher that powers on but won't start a cycle or stops shortly after starting, often when Zone Wash or Half Load has been selected.

Unplug the appliance (or switch off its breaker) and shut off the water supply valves before removing panels or disconnecting hoses. Keep towels handy for residual water.

  1. Turn the dishwasher off, then switch off its circuit breaker (or unplug it) for at least 30 seconds. Samsung UK gives 30 seconds as the minimum.
  2. Restore power, make sure Zone Wash and Half Load are NOT selected, load the dishwasher normally and start a Normal cycle.
  3. If you see PE instead, Samsung US says to empty the dishwasher, add detergent and run a half load cycle to check the function.
  4. If the Normal cycle runs fine, you can keep using the dishwasher without Zone Wash or Half Load until it's serviced, but tell the technician about the code.
  5. If PC shows up again, switch the dishwasher off at the breaker and request service. Samsung doesn't list any further owner checks for this code.

  • The dishwasher won't run any cycle at all, even with Zone Wash and Half Load turned off.

  • The dishwasher is under warranty. Book Samsung service rather than replacing parts yourself.
