Electrolux Washer E11 Error Code: Not Filling or Fill Time Too Long (Meaning, Causes, Fixes)

Reviewed 2026-10-22 · Based on 3 manufacturer & service sources

What the code means

Electrolux Canada says Error Code E11 "indicates the washing machine isn't filling with water during the washing phase of the cycle" and warns that E11 may lock the washer for up to 6 minutes; unplugging it and plugging it back in restarts that 6-minute lock. Electrolux UK groups E10, E11 and C1 (or 1 beep / 1 flash on models without a display) as water flow problems: the washer isn't filling, is filling too slowly, or has a drain problem that upsets the water level. The Electrolux technical and service manual for the EFLS617SIW, EFLS517SIW and EFLS417SIW front loaders calls E11 "Fill Time Too Long" and lists the causes as water tap closed, water flow rate too low, a defective pressure sensor, a defective inlet valve, or a kinked air tube.

Likely causes

Safe DIY checks

⚠ Before you start

Unplug the appliance (or switch off its breaker) and shut off the water supply valves before removing panels or disconnecting hoses. Keep towels handy for residual water.

  1. Make sure both water taps behind the washer are fully open.
  2. Check the water flow: turn off the tap, remove the fill hose, hold a bucket under the tap and turn it on. Electrolux UK says you should fill about 10 litres (2.6 gallons) in about a minute. If you can't, the problem is your house supply, not the washer.
  3. Confirm the hot supply goes to the hot inlet and the cold supply to the cold inlet. If the washer was just installed or moved, Electrolux Canada says to have the installer check this.
  4. With the water off, clean the small filter at the hose connection and the filter in the washer's inlet valve, then reattach the hoses without kinks or twists.
  5. Check the drain hose isn't pushed too far into the drain pipe; Electrolux UK says no more than 10 cm (about 4 inches), with the drain height between 60 and 100 cm (about 24 to 39 inches).
  6. If you've been using a lot of detergent, cut back and run an empty cycle to clear the suds.
  7. Reset: unplug the washer for at least 30 seconds, plug it back in and restart the cycle. Remember the E11 lock can last up to 6 minutes and restarts each time you unplug it.

🛠 When to call a pro

  • Your tap fills a bucket at normal speed and the hoses and filters are clear, but E11 keeps coming back. The service manual's next checks are the inlet valves, the pressure sensor air tube, the pressure sensor and the main control board.
  • No water enters the washer at all even with the taps fully open.
  • The washer was installed within the past 30 days. Electrolux Canada says to go back to your installer first.
  • The washer is under warranty. Electrolux Canada support is at 1-800-265-8352.
