Frigidaire Washer E11 Error Code: Fill Time Too Long (Meaning, Causes, Fixes)

Reviewed 2026-10-23 ยท Based on 5 manufacturer & service sources

What the code means

Frigidaire's front-load washer tech data sheet lists E11 as "Fill time too long." Electrolux, Frigidaire's parent company, describes the same front-load code as the washer not filling with water during the washing phase of the cycle, and notes that E11 can keep the door locked for up to 6 minutes (unplugging and plugging back in restarts that 6-minute lock). Sears PartsDirect lists the same meaning for Frigidaire digital-display front-load washers built in 2014 and later. Frigidaire says water pressure must be between 30 and 120 psi, and the tech sheet's first check is whether incoming pressure is above 30 psi. This page covers Frigidaire front-load washers; Frigidaire top-load washers use their own code list.

Likely causes

Safe DIY checks

โš  Before you start

Unplug the appliance (or switch off its breaker) and shut off the water supply valves before removing panels or disconnecting hoses. Keep towels handy for residual water.

  1. Make sure both the hot and cold faucets behind the washer are fully open. If the door stays locked after E11, Electrolux says it can stay locked for up to 6 minutes; unplugging restarts that timer.
  2. Check another faucet in the house. If pressure is low everywhere, wait until it comes back up, and avoid running water elsewhere while the washer fills.
  3. Straighten any kinked or pinched inlet hoses, and pull the washer out a little if the hoses are crushed against the wall.
  4. Confirm the hot supply goes to the hot inlet (red) and the cold supply to the cold inlet (blue).
  5. Turn off both faucets, disconnect the hoses at the washer, and check water flow from each faucet into a bucket. If flow is weak, the supply needs a plumber.
  6. Look at the inlet screens. Frigidaire's manual says to remove the hoses and clean the screens; Sears PartsDirect warns that if they're badly clogged, replacing the inlet valve is safer than digging debris out, since loose debris can make a valve stick open.
  7. If you use flood-safe hoses, swap them for standard washer hoses with rubber washers, hand-tight plus about 2/3 turn with pliers.
  8. Check that the drain hose is installed the way your installation instructions show. Sears PartsDirect says a badly installed drain hose can siphon fill water out through the drain. Also check the drain pump filter for coins or clips.
  9. In winter, check for frozen supply lines.
  10. Restart the cycle and watch whether water starts entering within about 2 minutes, which Frigidaire says is normal.

๐Ÿ›  When to call a pro

  • Water keeps flowing into the washer even after you unplug it: Frigidaire's tech sheet says to replace the inlet valve. Shut the faucets off right away.
  • Water flow and pressure are fine, the screens are clean, and E11 still comes back: the tech sheet's next steps are the inlet valve, then the pressure sensor, then the control board.
  • The washer was installed or moved within the last 30 days: Electrolux and Frigidaire say to go back to your installer first.
  • For units installed more than 30 days ago, Frigidaire's advice is to contact them to schedule service.
