GE Range / Oven F350 Error Code: Upper Cooling Fan Circuit or Fan Obstructed (Meaning, Causes, Fixes)

What the code means

GE Appliances' fault-code chart for ranges and wall ovens defines F350 as an issue with the upper cooling fan circuit or an obstruction in the cooling fan. The cooling fan moves air past the electronic control and out through the vent trim to keep the control and the surrounding cabinet from overheating. GE service bulletin RA02-18 for several GE, Café and Profile slide-in gas ranges explains it more precisely: the control has detected that the cooling fan blower wheel is not turning as fast as it should, or not turning at all. On those models the symptom is that Bake and Broil shut down when the oven reaches roughly 250°F, and F350 is stored as a hidden fault code that a technician reads in the control's fault retrieval mode, so you may see the oven shutting off rather than the code itself.

Likely causes

Safe DIY checks

⚠ Before you start

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before opening panels.

  1. Turn the oven off and let it cool completely. Then switch off the range's circuit breaker for a few minutes and restore power. GE lists a breaker reset as the first step for fault codes.
  2. Check the vents: clear anything stored against or on top of the vent trim at the back of the cooktop, or near the vent slots on a wall oven (towels, trays, foil, pans).
  3. Run Bake for a while and listen and feel for airflow from the vent. If the oven shuts off around 250°F or you hear no fan, the cooling blower likely isn't turning.
  4. Don't run a self-clean cycle until the code is fixed. Self-clean makes the most heat, and the cooling fan is what protects the control and cabinet.
  5. If the code or shutdowns come back with the vents clear, schedule service or move on to the checks below only if you're comfortable working on a 120/240-volt appliance.

🛠 When to call a pro

  • GE service bulletin RA02-18 procedure: read the hidden fault codes in fault retrieval mode (F350 expected), cycle power, then enter service (test) mode and run the cooling blower on low speed (press 3 on the affected models). If the blower, visible through the rear vent trim, doesn't spin or spins slowly, remove the maintop and check for obstructions on the blower wheel. It should turn freely by hand without noise or friction.
  • Check the black (low speed), red (high speed) and white (neutral) wires at the blower motor and make sure the gray 6-pin connector is fully seated.
  • With the blower running in service mode, check for 120 VAC between the black low-speed tab and white neutral. On the bulletin's models, if 120 V isn't present from J903 pin 1 on the RC17 machine board to neutral, the bulletin says to replace the machine board.
  • With power off, the bulletin's blower motor reads about 31 ohms white to red and about 47 ohms white to black. If wiring checks out and the wheel turns freely, replace the blower assembly (WB26X29060 on those models). Part numbers and pins differ by model, so use your model's tech sheet.
  • GE says fault codes should be diagnosed by a trained technician. On a wall oven, reaching the fan usually means pulling a heavy oven out of the cabinet, which is a two-person job.

Parts that commonly fix it

Always match the part number to your exact model.

⚙

Oven cooling fan / blower motor

The usual fix when the blower won't spin or tests open. Match it to your range or wall oven's full model number.
