Samsung Oven C-F0 Error Code: Main and Sub Board Communication Error (Meaning, Causes, Fixes)
What the code means
Samsung's oven information-code pages (UK, New Zealand and Singapore versions) list C-F0 as appearing "if there is no communication between the main PCB and sub PCB". Samsung's US range and wall oven error-code page describes it as a communication error between components in the electronics of the range. Samsung's NV51CB700D wall-oven service manual uses the same definition: C-F0 occurs if communication between the Main and Sub PCB is interrupted. The main board runs the heating elements and relays, and the sub board handles the display and controls, so when the link between them drops the oven can't run normally. C-F0 is a different code from C-F2, which Samsung uses for a lost link between the touch panel and the main or sub board, and from C-F1, which Samsung says only occurs during an EEPROM read or write. Samsung notes that codes can vary by model, so check your manual if your oven's display doesn't match.
Likely causes
- A temporary electronics glitch, which Samsung says a restart or 30-second power reset often clears
- Outdated firmware on Samsung induction ranges NSI6D*9100, NSI6D*9300 and NSI6D*9500, which Samsung says a SmartThings software update fixes
- A connector between the main and sub boards that isn't fully seated (the first checks in Samsung's NV51K7770D service manual)
- A loose, pinched or damaged wire harness between the boards
- A faulty main control board or sub control board
Safe DIY checks
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before opening panels.
- Turn the oven off with its Power or Off key, wait a moment, and turn it back on. Samsung lists this as the first step for C-F0.
- If C-F0 comes back, switch off the oven's circuit breaker (or unplug the range) for at least 30 seconds, then restore power.
- If you have a Samsung induction range with a model number starting NSI6D and ending in 9100, 9300 or 9500, connect it to the SmartThings app after the power reset. If it wasn't connected before, press and hold Light for more than 3 seconds to open settings and choose Restart. Samsung says the range then updates within about 30 minutes, shows Upgrading and Completed, and restarts itself. The firmware should read DE92-04769A_24052400 or later in SmartThings.
- Make sure the range is on its own circuit and not plugged in through an extension cord or an adapter.
- If the code persists, note the full model number (on the label inside the door frame or storage drawer) and request service from Samsung. Checking the board connectors means opening the control panel or back cover with the breaker off, so leave that to a technician unless you're comfortable working on 240 V appliances.
🛠 When to call a pro
- C-F0 returns after a 30-second power reset and, on the induction models Samsung names, after the firmware update. Samsung says to request service at that point.
- The display or controls are dead or erratic and you can't run the oven.
- You see scorched wiring, a melted connector or a pinched harness behind the control panel.
- The oven is under warranty. Opening the control area yourself may affect coverage, so book through Samsung support with the model and serial number ready.
Parts that commonly fix it
Always match the part number to your exact model.
Main-to-sub board wire harness
Samsung's service manual has the technician unplug and reseat the connectors on the sub board and main boards first. Replace the harness only if it's damaged, matched to your exact model number.
Search eBay →Main control board or sub control board
Only after the connectors and harness check out. Boards are model-specific, expensive and usually not returnable once installed.
