Bosch Washer E17 (F17) Error Code: Water Supply Time Exceeded (Meaning, Causes, Fixes)
What the code means
Bosch's E17/F17 support page says these codes "indicate that the water supply time has been exceeded," and Bosch South Africa words it the same way: water supply time exceeded, open the tap. Bosch US's washer error-code list groups E17, F17 and F29 together as "the filters in the water connection or AquaStop hose are blocked or the water pressure is too low." In short, the washer opened its inlet valve but not enough water arrived before its timer ran out. Many Bosch washers show a flashing water-tap symbol for the same kind of inlet problem. Check your own owner's manual, because Bosch code lists differ between model families.
Likely causes
- The cold water tap is turned off or only partly open
- Low household water pressure (Bosch says a fully open tap should deliver about 2.5 gallons, or 10 liters, per minute)
- A kinked, crushed or twisted water supply hose behind the washer
- A clogged filter screen where the hose meets the tap or in the inlet at the back of the washer
- A blocked AquaStop hose filter on models that have AquaStop
- A fault inside the washer, such as the inlet valve or water level system, if E17 keeps returning after the supply checks pass
Safe DIY checks
Unplug the appliance (or switch off its breaker) and shut off the water supply valves before removing panels or disconnecting hoses. Keep towels handy for residual water.
- Make sure the cold water tap feeding the washer is turned fully on.
- Pull the washer out slightly and straighten any kinks or twists in the supply hose.
- Turn the washer off and unplug it, then turn the tap off before touching the hose.
- Unscrew the hose from the tap and clean the filter screen with a small brush under running water. On an AquaStop hose, don't put the AquaStop box in water, because it holds an electric valve.
- On models without AquaStop, take the hose off the back of the washer, pull the inlet filter out with pliers and clean it the same way.
- Reconnect the hose, turn the tap fully on and check for leaks.
- To check pressure, hold a bucket under the fully open tap for one minute. About 2.5 gallons (10 liters) should come out. If it's much less, have a plumber look at the water supply.
- Switch the washer off, wait about 30 seconds, switch it back on and restart the program.
🛠 When to call a pro
- E17 comes back even though the tap is fully open, the hose is straight and the filters are clean. Bosch says to arrange a service visit.
- Water is in the base or the washer is leaking. Bosch says to turn the tap off and call for service.
- Your tap delivers well under 2.5 gallons (10 liters) per minute. That's a plumbing issue, not a washer issue.
- The washer is under warranty. Bosch Customer Support is at 1-800-944-2904.
