Samsung Oven C-d0 Error Code: Stuck or Shorted Button on the Control Panel (Meaning, Causes, Fixes)
What the code means
Samsung defines C-d0 as a button (key) problem. Samsung UK's oven information-code page says it displays when a button is pressed and held for a period of time, and the owner's manual for Samsung's NV51T5511 built-in wall oven says the code occurs if the control key is short for 1 minute. In plain terms, the control board is seeing a key as constantly pressed. That can be a real press (something leaning on the panel), moisture or grease bridging a touch key, or a failing touch panel or membrane that reads as pressed when it isn't. It is not a heating or temperature-sensor code. Don't confuse it with C-d1, which Samsung lists separately as a door lock malfunction. Some third-party repair sites describe C-d0 as a door or divider switch failure, but Samsung's own documents say button problem, so that's what this page follows. Codes can vary by model, so check your manual if your display doesn't match.
Likely causes
- A finger, towel, pan, utensil or other object resting on or pressing the control panel
- Water, steam, spilled liquid or condensation on or around the touch keys (Samsung's first check)
- Grease or cleaner residue on the panel making a key read as touched
- A worn or damaged touch panel, keypad membrane or its connection that reads a key as stuck (service-level)
- A fault on the control board that reads the keys (service-level)
Safe DIY checks
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before opening panels.
- Make sure nothing is touching or leaning on the control panel, including oven mitts, towels hanging from the handle, or a pan pushed against the controls.
- Wipe the buttons with a soft cloth dampened with water, as Samsung suggests, then dry the whole panel completely. Don't spray cleaner directly on the controls.
- If you've been boiling or steaming on the cooktop, let the panel dry out before trying again, since moisture can make a key read as pressed.
- Turn the oven off and try again, which is the step Samsung gives for C-d0.
- If the code returns, turn the oven off, then switch off the circuit breaker for at least 30 seconds and turn it back on. Samsung's manual and US support guide give this reset for codes that persist.
- Press each button once and notice whether one feels stuck, sunken or doesn't click. Mention that key when you book service.
🛠 When to call a pro
- C-d0 keeps returning after the panel is clean and dry and you've reset the breaker. Samsung's manual says to contact a Samsung service center at that point.
- A key is visibly cracked, bubbled, sunken or physically stuck.
- The oven turns functions on or off by itself, or won't respond to the buttons at all.
- The oven is under warranty. Samsung's US support says to request service through its Support Center.
